Chiesa: Lee Laid An Egg Against Ferguson, I Would Have Won

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender, Michael Chiesa, would have been the fighter to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim vacant lightweight title at UFC 223 next month in Brooklyn, New York.

Except referee Mario Yamasaki botched the (non?) finish.

As a result, “Maverick” lost to Kevin Lee by submission, then had to sit idly by and watch “The Motown Phenom” move on to fight Tony Ferguson — and lose — in the UFC 216 headliner last October.

“I would have beat Tony,” Chiesa told Submission Radio. “I match up great against both guys. So yeah, it was a bummer to see Kevin go out there and lay an egg against Tony cause I would have won that fight, and I’m a firm believer in that. Some people might call me crazy, but I think it’s just logical, especially in my world.”

Some people have a shitty attitude over the whole thing.

After dropping two spots in the official rankings to No. 9 — two spots below Lee — Chiesa (14-3) was booked to throw hands opposite former 155-pound champion Anthony Pettis, also at UFC 223 in “The Empire State.”
