Conor McGregor will lose his lightweight title by THIS date, says rival’s manager

McGregor’s status as the ruler of the UFC’s 155lbs division is currently up in the air.

Earlier this month, UFC president Dana White suggested McGregor had been relieved of the lightweight crown he claimed 14 months ago by claiming that the upcoming fight between Tony Ferguson and Nurmagomedov, which , will be for the undisputed lightweight title.

“I have no update,” White when asked at a press conference when asked to provide an update on McGregor. “The winner of Khabib-Ferguson will be the champion.”

He added: “They’re going to fight for the real title. This is the real title. I said that Conor can’t hold up the title for two years.”

Despite hinting that McGregor has been stripped of his title, White stopped short of confirming that fact, much to the frustration of many.

The murky lightweight title picture is crystal clear for Nurmagomedov, who is adamant he and Ferguson will be fighting for the ‘vacant’ 155lbs belt, a claim which has been backed up by Abdelaziz.

“I don’t care if Conor’s stripped or not stripped,” he told TMZ.  “I know that April 7, Khabib will fight for the lightweight belt and Conor’s belt will go in the trash.”

Should Nurmagomedov come out of 223’s main event victorious, Abdelaziz foresees ‘The Eagle’ beating McGregor and then hanging up his gloves.

He said: “Khabib’s probably gonna retire undefeated because he’s gonna beat Conor, he’s gonna beat Tony, and he’s probably gonna say ‘bye-bye.’”
