Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz 3: Diaz gives update on trilogy fight

The youngest Diaz brother and McGregor took part in two of the most unforgettable fights in recent UFC history in 2016.

Diaz came out of the pair’s first encounter victorious, submitting McGregor with a second-round rear-naked choke on eleven days notice.

McGregor avenged his first loss inside the Octagon a few months later in the main event of 202, defeating Diaz via majority decision.

Many in the mixed martial arts world are keen to see the trash talkers throw down for a third time.

However, a rubber match with ‘The Notorious’ isn’t on Diaz’s radar at this moment in time.

“He’s just living his life right now and he’s got a magnifying glass on him, whatever he’s doing,” Diaz told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

“I don’t give a f**k what he does.

“I’m sure he’s up and down. ‘Do I want to be in these lights? Why am I not in these lights?

“‘I need to get in the lights. I need to get out of the lights.’ It’s a crazy roller coaster.”

Diaz, 19-11, currently has his sights set on a fight with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

“I’m getting to the point where I’m sick of not fighting. I’m not getting any younger,” he said.

“I put that tweet out saying I wanted to fight in May or June, but I didn’t say who because I was weighing my options.  And now, Woodley is my best option.

“I see him on TMZ every week, talking about me. I’m like, ‘What the f—? If that’s what you want to do.’  It’s not really my weight class, but I’m with it.

“I think it’s my title we’re fighting for. If he’s the one calling me out, whose title are we fighting for? Who’s the real champion here?”

Diaz, 32, hasn’t set foot inside the cage since losing to McGregor at UFC 202.

McGregor, meanwhile, hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts since defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, a victory which saw him become the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion.
