Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather II ‘could happen’ very soon, despite Dana White’s claim

Last August, the pair faced one another in a multi-million-pound boxing match, which was aptly dubbed ‘The Money Fight’.

McGregor entered the much-maligned contest with no professional boxing experience to his name but acquitted himself well in the early rounds of the contest.

However, he was soon overcome by fatigue, which , his 50th professional triumph.

The nature of Mayweather’s victory, in which he unexpectedly ate several punches, has left many in the combat sports world eager to see him throw down with McGregor again.

UFC president Dana White isn’t part of that group, : “I don’t want to do it again.

“I heard that Floyd Mayweather showed up last night at one of the nightclubs in Vegas with a Conor McGregor t-shirt on.

“I know these guys have been talking s**t, but I want Conor to start training again and come back and defend his title.”

Despite White publicly dismissing the notion of McGregor rematching Mayweather, there are those who believe we will see the two trash talkers face off again, especially after the boxer publicly hinted he’s willing to have an MMA fight.

light-heavyweight title contender Jimi Manuwa is part of that group and believes we could see Mayweather vs McGregor 2 in the near future.

“Mayweather wants money. He wants more money,” Manuwa told Express Sport when discussing the recent Twitter exchanges between the pair. “So he’s only going to take a super-fight.

“I think another fight between him and Conor could happen. Both of them like money.

“So I think that’s what that message was about. I think it was to promote a second fight between him and Conor.

“Because I saw Conor responded as well. So I think that fight could happen.”
